Herbal Ingredients of Gu Chong Tang

Chao Bai Zhu (Dry Fried Rhizoma Atractyloids Macrocephaelae, White Atractylodes Rhizome)

- 30g. -tonify Qi, strengthen spleen

Huang Qi (Radix Astragali Membranaceus, Milk-vetch Root, Astragalus)

- 18g. -tonify Qi, strengthen spleen

Shan Zhu Yu (Fructus Corni Officinalis, Asiatic Cornelian Cherry Fruit, Cornus)

- 24g. -nourish yin and blood by tonifing liver and kidneys

Bai ShaoYao (Radix Paeonia Lactiflorae, White Peony Root, Peony)

- 12g. -nourish yin and blood by tonifying liver and kidneys Duan

Long Gu (Calcined Os Draconis, Dragon Bone, Fossilized Vertebrae)

Cooking Preparation of Gu Chong Tang
This natural chinese medicine formula prepared by first decocting Duan Mu Li and Duan Long Gu for one hour before the other ingredients are added. Wu Bei Zi is first ground into a powder and is not decocted with the other herbs. This preparation makes 2 dosages (Wu Bei Zi powder devided into two portions as well). The ground Wu Bei Zi powder is taken with each strained decoction dosage.

Additional Information on Gu Chong Tang
This chinese medicine formula is able to treat both the symptoms of this disorder (excessive uterine bleeding) while addressing and strongly treating the root (spleen Qi deficiency). Gu Chong Tang and Gui Pi Tang both treat excessive amount of uterine bleeding but Gu Chong Tang is better at stopping bleeding and is therefore used in more severe bleeding conditions. The normal length of treatment for this formula is between 5 and 7 days before bleeding should cease.
