Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Chronic inflammation of connective tissue which can involve the joints, kidneys, serous surfaces and vessel walls. It occurs predominately in young women but also effects children. Macule or papules may appear and can be round, irregular or butterfly shaped. The eruptions will appear as small red slightly raised papules with slight flaking skin which have big follicles under the dry skin.

Whole body symptoms include a slight fever, fatigue, achy/painful joints and a heat sensation where the eruptions occur. If local area is on the scalp hair roots will look bent.

 

Chinese Medicine Treatment Of Systemic Lupus:

INTERNAL

Toxic Heat Invasion - Acute stage - red eruptions with a high fever, irritability.

Herbal Formula: Xi Jiao Di Huang Tang or Wu Wei Xiao Du Tang Constipation + Da Huang, Mang Xiao Scanty dark urination + Ju Fu Ling Liver Wind Spasm + Tian Ma, Ling Yang Jiao Blood Stasis + Chi Xiao Yao, Mu Dan Pi

 

Yin Deficiency - eruptions near remission, darker color, less red, symptoms become deficient, slight fever, fatigue, dry mouth, spontaneous sweat or night sweat, vertigo, palpitations, insomnia

Herbal Formula: Zhi Bai Di Huang Tang joints + Qing Jiao, Wei Ling Xian, vines (teng)

Insomnia + Suan Zao Ren, Ji Jiao Teng
