Cooking Preparation of Hao Qin Qing Dan Tang
The last natural ingredient in this formula (Bi Yu San - Jasper Powder) is compiled up of 3 herbs. Bi Yu San is made up of Hua Shi (talcum powder), Gan Cao (radix glycyrrhizae uralensis) and Qing Dai (pulverata Levis). All herbs in Bi Yu San (jasper powder) should be placed in a cloth bag and decocted with the other ingredients in Hao Qin Qing Dan Tang.

This TCM formula is a modification of Wen Dan Tang with Bi Yu San (jasper powder), Qing Hao (herba artemisiae annuae) and Huang Qin (radix scutellariae baicalensis) added. This formula should be compared to Xiao Chai Hu Tang (minor Bupleurum Decoction) which has a greater dispersing action than Hao Qin Qing Dan Tang. Another similar formula is Chai Hu Zhi Jie Tang (Bupleurum Bitter Orange and Platycodon Decoction) which has a stronger releasing action on the half exterior aspect of the shao yang. This alternative medicine formula has been used to treat such disorders as acute gallbladder disorders, acute hepatitis, meniere's disease, acute gastritis, pneumonia, bronchiectasis, hypertension, coronary artery disease and pyelonephritis when the appropriate symptoms are present.
