Main Action of Mai Men Dong Tang

Herbal Ingredients of Mai Men Dong Tang

Mai Men Dong (Tuber Ophiopogonis Japonici, Ophiopogon Tuber)

- 15 -18g. -clears deficiency stomach heat, produces yin fluids in lungs and stomach

Ren Shen (Radix Ginseng, Ginseng Root)

- 6g. -tonify Qi, nourish fluids

Geng Mi (Non -glutinous Rice)

- 9 -15g. -tonify stomach Qi, nourish fluids

Da Zao (Fructus Ziziphi Jujubae, Chinese Date, Jujube)

- 12 pieces -tonify stomach Qi, nourish fluids

Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Uralensis, Licorice Root)

- 6g. -tonify Qi, nourish fluids, aids throat

Ban Xia (Rhizoma Pinelliae Tematae, Pinellia Rhizome)

- 4.5 -9g. -promotes stomach Qi flow, directs Qi downwards

Cooking Preparation of Mai Men Dong Tang
This natural Chinese medicine Herbal formula is generally decocted today only using 3 -4 pieces of Da Zao (Fructus Jujubae, Chinese Date).

Additional Information on Mai Men Dong Tang
This formula is a modification of Zhu Ye Shi Gao Tang (Lophatherus and Gypsum Decoction). When Zhu Ye and Shi Gao are deleted from Zhu Ye Shi Gao Tang and then the herb Mai Men Dong increased, the formula becomes Mai Men Dong Tang becoming more of a yin nourishing formula for the stomach. This alternative medicine Formula is able to treat such diseases as gastritis, peptic ulcers, acid reflux, pharyngitis, chronic bronchitis and pulmonary tuberculosis when the appropriate symptoms are present.
