Gan Sui (Radix Euphoribiae Kansui,m Kan -sui Root)

Da Ji (Radix Euphorbiae seu Knoxiae Peking Spurge Root, Euphorbia)

-drains interior dampness from organs

Yuan Hua (FlosDaphnes Genkwa)

-reduces stagnated fluids from chest and hypochondria

 

Cooking Preparation of Shi Zao Tang
This natural Herbal formula should have equal amounts of each herb ground into a powder and taken in .5 -1 gram doses on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. When taking each dose a draft made up of 10 pieces of Da Zao (jujube, jujube) should also be taken.

Additional Information on Shi Zao Tang
1 hour after taking this formula the patient will usually feel an uncomfortable feeling in the chest followed by stomach pain and borborygmus which is alleviated by watery diarrhea. The patient can expect up to 6 bowel movements after each dose. This TCM formula should be started off in a small dose and only taken every 2 -3 days if the desired results where not attained. In milder cases Xiao Qing Long Tang (minor Blue Green Dragon Decoction) may be a better formula to use as Shi Zao Tang is very strong. This alternative medicine Herbal formula has been used to treat such diseases as exudative pleurisy, uremia from systemic lupus erythematosus, nephritic syndrome and ascites from cirrhosis if the proper presentation of symptoms is present.
