Main Action of Suo Quan Wan
The functions of this traditional chinese medicine formula are to warm the kidney yang and expel cold while relieving frequent urination by stopping leakage. This Herbal formula is best suited in conditions of kidney yang Qi deficiency failing to transform bladder Qi.

Herbal Ingredients of Suo Quan Wan

Yi Zhi Ren (Fructus Alipinae Oxyphyllae, Alpinia Oxyphylla Fruit, Black Cardamon)

- 9 -12g. -warms kidney yan, aids kidney grasping function of Qi (urination functioning) , warm spleen

Wu Yao (Radix Linderae Strychnifoliae, Lindera Root)

- 6 -12g. -disperses cold in lower jiao, aids bladder transformation functioning

ShanYao (Radix Dioscoreae Oppositae, Chinese Yam, Dioscorea)

- 9 -15g. -tonify spleen and kidney, binds essence

 

Cooking Preparation of Suo Quan Wan
When preparing this chinese medicine formula equal amounts of the first two listed herbs should be used while a paste of the third ingredient (Shan Yao) should be prepared. All ingredients should be mixed together and made into pills with the average dose being 6 grams taken two times per day. Traditionally the pills were taken with salted rice wine but is taken today with warm water. This Herbal formula is also taken as a decoction.

Additional Information on Suo Quan Wan
This is generally regarded as a weak formula in traditional chinese medicine and should only be used for mild conditions. If this TCM Herbal formula is prescribed for a more severe condition modifications should be made to increase it's tonifying properties. This is a great formula to treat enuresis in children as it is a mild formula which strengthens and warms the kidneys without drying the fluids.
