This Herbal formula is generally used when there is heat in the heart channel (related to the small intestine) which gives rise to the above symptoms and a scorched throat with severe thirst, irritability, red eyes, painful eyes and parched lips. Other symptoms alleviated from this formula are mouth and tongue sores (heart heat) and nose bleeds. Although this formula is best known for it's urinary tract infection treatment all UTI's are not due to damp heat in which case this formula should not be prescribed.
