Chi Shi Zhi
Latin name: Halloysitum Rubrum
Chi Shi Zhi Also Known As: Halloysitum Rubrum (Kaolin), Argilla, Bolus Alba, China Clay, Heavy Kaolin, Light Kaolin, Porcelain Clay, White Bole. Hydrated aluminum silicate.
Properties: SWEET, SOUR, ASTRINGENT - WARM
Dosage: 9 - 30g.

Also Used For: Orally, Chi Shi Zhi / Kaolin is used for mild to moderate acute diarrhea, cholera, enteritis, and dysentery. Topically, Chi Shi Zhi / Kaolin is used as a poultice, dusting powder, drying agent, and emollient. In combination products, Chi shi Zhi / Kaolin is used for symptomatic diarrhea control, in relief of radiation-induced mucositis, in the treatment of chronic ulcerative colitis, and to treat spontaneous pneumothorax. Diagnostic uses of kaolin include, as a contrast media agent (C,D), automated testing for activated coagulation time (ACT), serodiagnosis of tuberculosis, and the kaolin agglutination test (KAT). In manufacturing, kaolin is used as a diluent in tablet preparation, and a filtering or decolorizing agent. Kaolin is also a food additive.
