Also Used For: Orally, Da Qing ye (Wild Indigo) is used for diphtheria, influenza, malaria, septic angina, and typhoid fever with prostration. It is also used for upper respiratory tract infections, common head cold, tonsillitis, stomatitis, inflammation of the mouth and throat mucous membranes, fever, lymphadenitis, furunculosis, and Crohn's disease. Topically, Da Qing Ye (Wild Indigo) is used for painless ulcers, inflamed nipples, and as a douche for leukorrhea. Historically, Da Qing Ye (Wild Indigo) has been used as an oral tea for fever, scarlet fever, typhoid, and pharyngitis in North America. It has been used topically for cleaning open and inflamed wounds.
