Male Infertility
Male Infertility
Diagnosis of Male Fertility:
Infertility is explained as the inability to conceive after having unprotected intercourse for more than 1 year. In more than 40% couples experiencing infertility there is a problem with the men. This number has slowly been increasing over the years as sperm counts continue decreasing. Infertility is not a woman's issue !
The most common way to diagnose a mans ability to concieve a child and grade his fertility is through a semen analysis. As sperm is only 1 aspect of ejaculation fluid a man may have lots of fluid released but few to no sperm !
A lab test can be done to test a mans sperm. They will look at a variety of things including volume (amount of fluid released), viscosity, motility (how many and how well they wiggle), count (how many sperm) and morphology (how they look).
There are many ways a man can help optimize his fertility and increase the chances of getting a healthy pregnancy with his partner. As sperm count and fertility are dropping annually the first goal is to slow down this infertility trend. Watching diet and getting adequate exercise are the basic and most simple ways to help. Adding in supplements, herbs and regular acupuncture will help boost mens fertility.
